Competitions and WEIRD Video

Anyway...about my cello. In my orchestra, every year there is a 'concerto competition', and this year, I thought maybe I'd try. I know I won't make it into the finals, obviously (I'm not that good) but it would be soooo cool if I got an 'honorable mention'. The piece I've choosen to play is the first movement of Concerto in C Major by Hayden. The problem? Well, it's supposed to be played at Moderato, and I'm playing it Largo. Help! No matter what I do, I can't seem to pick up the pace!

So I don't know if I can compete if I don't play at tempo. I talked with my mom (she's great, totally supports me in everything) and she says that even if I can't, the point is that it would be a good experience and in the end, I'll still be able to play a beautiful (and fairly advanced) song on cello. So I'm still deciding if I should go for it or just wait until next year.
